Yesterday evening was our second class session. last week we began the business of considering the definitions of the basic terms: Philosophy, Art, Craft, Science. We started with "ART", sensibly enough, considering that this is a class at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.
Art, we concluded, is essentially a process of, or the product of, self-expression. Pure art has no other motive or source. Although art may be used for a variety of purposes, at this point it has moved into another category, and is not itself.
Yesterday evening we considered Art a bit further, gained a bit more detail, but ultimately retained that fundamental definition.
We began looking at definitions of Science and found that to be primarily a methodical approach to observation and experiment.
I hesitate at the moment to say very much more on the matter.

Mr. Achtermann-
I'm really having a good time in this class, it's not often that i get a chnce to talk out these ideas, and i have many of the like. I always seem to leave with a few new thoughts to maul over with people who just listen rather than understand. The point of this message is to say that i think what youre doing is important and id like to continue to talk about these type of ideas with you.
have a good evening- MAC
